Amazing Grace UP date

Hello Amazing Grace recipients and team members,

Some new yet familiar faces have joined the team! And you'll meet all of these characters (if you haven't already) as you wander the hallowed halls of Hillcrest Chapel.

The lucky recipients of the Heightened Fitness and Sore-Muscle awards are:

Xcounty Ski: OPEN

Downhill Ski: Mark Bryant!

Runner: Chris Akers!

Street Bike: Dean Dekoster!

Canoe: Randy Kaech, Isaac Akers!

Mt. Bike: Bill Akers!

Kayak: David Knebel (or Dave Anderson)!

I'll get photos of the other newbies to the team, but here's one of the talented Chris Akers (above).

His long legs will amble down Mount Baker in fine style. Yes, occasionally cameoing as the rich young ruler, Chris is the son of Bill Akers, our mountain biker (and triathlon man to boot). Isaac Akers is also the son of Bill Akers, and will be one of our canoeists too. Hmm.... perhaps a team name change is in order with all of these Akers on the team.... akers, achers, acres.... hmmm.....

Also joining our Grace-ful squad is Mark Bryant, husband of Carol, former roommate of Randy (moi) in college days. In his capacity as downhill skiier, he plans to start stair climbing. Any advice for him, Angie? ;-)

ALERT 1: Mark is looking to find or borrow some ski boots (and skis), size 12 or so. If anyone has a lead on ski boots, can you email Mark at carmarnodan@aol.com ? Thanks.

ALERT 2: We are still looking for a cross-country skiier to join the party. Hey Bryan, would you like to cross-country ski? Scott, it's not too late to rejoin! Bill, see if Mr. Adam is up for it. Dean, did you say you had a friend who could? Everyone, fan out and ask your extended family, neighbors, street people, etc.

In the meantime, keep up the crunches, chin-ups, etc. as Spring brings a fresh wind of fitness into our lives! Ahhhh..... can't you just feel it?! (Ow!)

Grace and Mucho Gracias,

Randy Kaech 384-2792
